Canada's Cruel Harp Seal Hunt
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Help Save the Seals! Every year the Candian seal hunt is taking place in the north were its the largest slaughter of marine mammals on Earth. Every year there are about 250 000+ seals killed by hunters for their pelts. These mammals are killed very in humanly, most being skined while still conscious. Many killed are younglings called white coats because of their white furs, as they get older their fur sheds and turns darker. After the seals are skinned, hunters usually leave the carasses on the ice or dump them in the sea. The oraganization that control the total number of allowed seal deaths is called the DFO, they were responsible for the cod fish collapse as well in Canada. If this continues further more the seals will be in a state of risk of extinction.

Some of the stuff we sure can do, but this situation is really hard to contorl with our small, useless hands. The only way to help is by talking to the experts online to have a chat and see what they have got to protect the seals. All I know is that we could have a conversation with the government privately and hope they will do something to help the extinction for seals.

Well Bossy...
Something we could do and is in our power has been sugested by many people boycotting many seal and fish products from Canada, but sadly it hasnt really had a major effect. Some how there has to be a better way to end this peacefully and without cutting jobs down!

if the seals live this long i don't think they will go into extinction. you said that 250 000 seals die every year if thats ture they should be all kill by now but there is still many of them left.

Re:
Harp seals don't live long caused by predators and hunters and it is true that over 250,000 seals die each year not accounting for the wounded seals shot by hunters that escape later to die and the ones that die because of predators such as polar bears, more than 3/4 total seal population die in total after all deaths are accounted for. So there really aren't that many seals except for breding season also the time of the Canadian seal hunt.

Hmm..
Well, we kill things that for us to use. Soon, we need to find a way to prevent that to become even worse. If this is contininously happen, many lives will be lost. Find another way to make clothing.
